ANDY’S LEGACY
Andy Harvard’s life was cut short by Younger Onset Alzheimer’s disease.
In addition to the Andy Harvard Leadership Initiative, we at The Final Climb, Andy’s family and circle of friends have also been working tirelessly to raise awareness and accelerate research into Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders.
Defeating Dementia
The Final Climb has played a strategic role in the creation and initial funding of the forthcoming documentary series “Defeating Dementia” slated for nationwide broadcast on over 300 PBS television stations in 2027.
Defeating Dementia is part of the Wellbeings series of PBS films on health and wellness. Watch the sizzle reel here.
Defeating Dementia is a production of WETA, the PBS station in Washington, DC, which also produces Ken Burns’ films. The series is being made by Seven One Eight Studios and directed by Chris Durrance. Other Wellbeings films include Caregiving, with executive producer, Bradley Cooper, and Hiding in Plain Sight.
The 10,000 Brains Project
Inspired by the courage of Andy and so many others, TFC also helped establish 10,000 Brains / Neuro AI, Inc., a non-profit initiative dedicated to advancing targeted therapies for the millions of people affected by neurodegenerative diseases worldwide.
The project grew out of Andy Harvard’s own experience with younger onset Alzheimer's disease and the need to change the conversation around all neurodegenerative diseases.
Andy’s friends and family came together and raised the seed funding to launch this research initiative.
